This is a long awaited review of these coils. I ordered these Gecko Sport Suspension. This was for my S60 R-Design 2012 D2. Long story short, these are amazing.
The massive handle difference and performance of them is outstanding.
They have removed a lot of the S60s body roll and lean which is a massive improvement.
Taking the back roads/country roads you can feel the difference big time, the car keeps it’s speed around the corners and doesn’t lose it’s energry when taking corners and it feels very solid and able to put a lot of trust into the car and the suspension. I can take a roundabouts at 40mph+ and it doesn’t lose grip and with a combination of Gecko and good tyres.
It has also made the steering a lot more shaprer and responsive and you feel more in control of the car which is very important. The car doesn’t squat at all from hard starts and there isn’t any dive under heavy breaking and due to that it was slightly increased braking performance.
So in terms of comfort, it is bearable at least to me and Volvo itself does a really good job especially with their seats. I’ve gotten the Street Gecko Suspension which comes with 30 levels of damping adjustment at the rear and 24 levels of adjustment at the front. I’ve got them set to it’s full stiffness and to me it’s fine, you will definitely feel everything but I like it as it leads me to better judge the road conditions and how the breaking will response as well. Only time here it’s really bad is on a road which a lot of potholes and bumps on the road. But apart from that, driving on the main road, back roads/ country roads and motorways are bearable with ease.
The design of them is top quality with the whole shock being machined instead of being welded which adds a lot of strength to the shock with terms of durability, hardness and strength which are key aspects of high end suspension. I also really appreciate these being a monotube design as this adds a massive difference in performance and again their durability to lasting longer.
My conclusion is that these are definitely worth the money and they are absolutely amazing and they are a good mid- range sport suspension for every-day driving and i have no bad comments about them. I’ve put about 10k miles on these and they have been brilliant and love the stiffness and the addes performance of these.
